Urgench (or Urganch) is a modern, Soviet-style city in western Uzbekistan, and capital of the Khorezm region. Situated 450 km (280 mi) west of Bukhara across the Kyzylkum Desert, Urgench faces the Amu Darya River and the Shavat canal. The city is essentially a transport hub for connections to Khiva, 35km southwest.

Urgench, Uzbekistan, should not be confused with Konye-Urgench, or Old Urgench, in Turkmenistan.
